This series will cover everything from ‘Intro to Songwriting’ to 'DIY Tour Booking and Live Show Etiquette'. For those interested in music as a career, this is the series for you.

Schedule:
3:00-3:30PM | Songwriting Basics w/ Tyler Del Pino
This workshop will explore the fundamentals of songwriting; from the beginning of creative process to the completion of the song. We will address the importance of lyrics, song structure, hooks, collaborations, preparing the song for studio time, and more.

3:30-5:00PM | Intro to the Music Biz w/ Elise Roller
A quick-course on the A to Z of the music industry, this workshop will cover trends in the business and what it takes to become a career artist in 2018. Discussions will include an introduction to the wide variety of music careers, the steps to get there, and some of the challenges and opportunities that exist for the DIY artists in today's industry. 

6:00-7:30PM | DIY Tour Booking & Live Show Etiquette w/ Elise Roller
Taking the live show on the road can be one of the most exciting and rewarding aspects of a music career… and it can also be the most difficult. Live show etiquette doesn’t come naturally to everybody but can make or break opportunities for performers. Learn how to book and manage a tour, including tips on when to start, where to go, who to contact, what it takes to get people to the show, how performers are expected to behave, and much more. This workshop will address all the nitty gritty details, tips, and tricks to ensure the most successful DIY tour.

Bios:
Elise Roller is the Professional Development Coordinator at Manitoba Music, offering consultations and organizing workshops to provide professional development to those pursuing a career in music.

Roller has been actively involved in the Canadian music scene for nearly a decade, first beginning in Alberta with her solo project, then joining touring rock outfit Go For The Eyes. She began working in artist management while living in Calgary, and moved to Manitoba in 2015 to become part of its thriving music scene. For the past six years, Roller has booked shows for and tour managed a number of Canadian acts. She has been the main stage producer for Pride Winnipeg for the past three years and, in addition to her industry experience, Roller can be seen tearing up the stage as the front person of heavy metal grunge band, Solhounds, or locked away in her home writing love ballads for lonely hearts.

Tyler Del Pino has spent the last fifteen years immersed in the songwriting and production world and, in 2016, launched TDP Productions in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Apart from heading up the studio and being the primary writer and producer of his own project, he has been a creative contributor behind many other projects, been selected for multiple songwriting camps, and worked with musicians and industry at all levels. Tyler’s expertise lies in developing unshakeable song structures and creating hooks that engage music listeners from start to finish. Some of his writing credits include writing with Justin Forsley and Chad Richardson (Ole Publishing), Phil Deschambault and Ash Koley (Sony Music), Braedon and Riley Horbacio (Panicland), and Bobby Desjarlais (Attica Riots). In addition to his written works, he has produced and/or mixed for Red Moon Road, Rhia Rhea, Leanne Pearson, and Maxine Peters.
