Contemporary Indigenous painter, sculptor, and jeweler.
More and more Thunder Bay is advancing as a cultural centre for Northwestern Ontario. This wonderful new website The Trunk contributes to that. I feel fortunate to be a part of it all.
I am an Anishinabekwe (Ojibwe) and Cree First Nations artist who has some European heritage. I live in Thunder Bay where I create fine art using assorted visual art media.
Principally, my work is mixed media on wood panel. The materials I like to use are acrylic paint; paper and textiles for collage; found natural materials, like bone, antler, and birch bark; as well as plaster and other functional materials. I also do illustration work, printmaking, ceramics, and wearable art. More recently I have expanded into fine jewelry making....and really enjoying it.
