I handspin artisan yarns, teach, and write.
I own a small fibre arts business called Roses & Purls. I have an online store featuring handspun yarns and spinning supplies, and sell my art yarns through the local yarn shops and markets. My signature items are pieces that I take from raw fleece straight from the shepherd, through washing, hand processing, spinning, weaving and knitting. My business focuses on supporting small producers, promoting heritage sheep breeds, and education. I teach spinning classes and private lessons, and as a high school teacher I weave fibre arts into my classes to teach students craft as a means of self-regulation and stress management. I blog about handspinning for Mother Earth News magazine and have written for PLY Magazine.
